I was kindly given this stereo to fill a gap in the dashboard of my latest car however it had been in storage for quite some time and it wasn’t until I tested it a fault was discovered.
When powered up from cold the stereo would cut out moments later or if it was touched/moved. After stripping it apart this was narrowed down to touching the main PCB i.e. applying pressure or flexing it. Once warmed up the stereo worked fine unless blasted with a compressed cooling spray but I still couldn’t locate the exact component at fault.

Using a jewellers loupe I found some rough looking solder joints so I reworked these but hand but this still didn’t fix it.

In the end I went for the shotgun approach of reworking the entire board using a hot plate, hot air station and liberally applied ChipQuik flux.

This did the trick and the stereo is working robustly at all temperatures. After leaving it on for an hour it was quite hot but looking at the schematic there are a few linear power regulators and the main output stage is approximately 40W so I think that’s to be expected but all that heat combined with vibration in the car over the years could be the reason for the failure of the solder joints.
If anyone else has this stereo I have attached the user manual, service manual and service manual supplement for download.
